DrGeo
is a modern Multimedia software application. It has been specifically designed
for Windows 95, Windows NT and Windows
2000. It takes advantage of multithreading, standard sound cards for
data acquisition and commonly used printers.
DrGeo is a single channel seismic data
acquisition program. All database storage is implemented using Jet-Engine
Database (Access). It can in real-time record seismic data to the local hard
disk, collect navigation fixes, archive data to the tapes or removable disks,
print data to the standard printers.
Many operations in DrGeo can be configured as
Automatic. Some of them are: cutting lines, seabed tracking, seabed digitizing,
printing, archiving, deleting lines, color/palette calibration.
DrGeo can produce real-time hard-copy outputs
using printer/plotters such as GULTON and ALDEN. It can also use any standard
color printers supported by Window drivers such as Ink-Jets, Laser Printers,
etc.
The printed seismic data can be overlapped
with digitized reflectors, labels, and regions. The regions are polygons
representing different materials (user defined).
The navigation fixes can be received via
RS232 serial interface (COM ports). They can be any ASCII strings containing
(X, Y) coordinates, Fix numbers and any other data.
The tape drive can be internal or external
connected via SCSI interface.
The supported archiving devices are: SCSI
tape drives, removable disks such as ZIP drives, MO – magneto optical drives,
CDR with variable packet capabilities, DVD – recordable drives, network drives,
etc.
The printer can be any standard printer
compatible with Win95 or NT. It can also be GULTON or ALDEN or any other
compatible printer/plotter.
The multimedia sound card can be any commonly
used in PC environment.
DrGeo has no limits on colors used. Any
graphics card supported by Win95 or NT can be used with any resolution.
With DrGeo there is no need for any
additional hardware other then standard off the shelf Multimedia computer
(Intel) including LAPTOP computers. The minimum recommended is Pentium 150 with
32MB RAM and 1GB hard disk.
DrGeo can be fully functional on LAPTOP
computers including real-time printing/plotting, archiving to tape drive or
removable disks, receiving Navigation Fixes, recording via standard built in
sound cards, etc. No proprietary hardware is required. It provides off the
shelf standard multimedia solution.
The user interface consists of Menu bar, Tool
bar, Status bar, Profile view, Oscilloscope view and Tabbed Panes. Each view
can be sizable by using slider bars. By selecting different Pane the system is
set to different mode.
DrGeo has thorough project administration. It
will monitor Project/Line progress. The user can perform operations on multiply
selected Lines such as: auto seabed digitizing, printing, archiving, generating
SEGY files, exporting digitized data. The archiving administration will show
all history of archived data showing media types and IDs of where and what has
been archived.
The digitized data (labels, reflectors,
regions and navigation fixes) can be exported to comma delimited text files or
Access database or Micromine database format for further processing.
The tides can be automatically generated with
specified time increment and then each tide value can be entered by the user.
DrGeo contains comprehensive set of digital
filters such as Volume control, Polarity (positive, negative or both), Band
Pass (low and high) filters with multiple choices, Stack filter (2-5), TVG
(time varied gain) filter with graphical interface setup, Swell filter. There
is an independent filters setup for the display and for the printer.
DrGeo provides several default color palettes
(including gray levels) that can be selected by the user. The display and the
printer may have different palettes selected at the same time. Therefore the
seismic data can be displayed or printed with multiple colors (unlimited by
DrGeo). The palettes are auto calibrated thus giving best color representation
of the data.
